How to Create a UPI QR Code for Payments (Free, With Amount)
A UPI QR code lets customers pay you by scanning with any UPI app: Google Pay, PhonePe, Paytm, BHIM and bank apps. You can create one in a minute and use it on invoices, shop counters and WhatsApp.
Create your UPI QR in 4 steps
- Open the QR code generator and choose UPI payment.
- Enter your UPI ID (for example
name@bank) and the payee name. - Optionally enter a fixed amount and a note. Leave the amount empty to let the customer type it.
- Download the QR as PNG (for sharing) or SVG (for printing at any size).
Test before you print
Scan the code with your own UPI app and make sure the name and UPI ID shown are correct. Do not print a large batch before testing.
Where to use it
- Printed on your invoices and quotations to collect advances.
- Standees and stickers at the shop counter.
- WhatsApp Business messages and product catalogues.
- Delivery packages and visiting cards.
Tips for reliable scanning
- Use dark code on a light background with high contrast.
- Keep a quiet margin (blank border) around the code.
- Print at least 2.5 cm ร 2.5 cm, bigger for counters.
- Do not stretch or recolour the code unevenly.
Business QR vs personal QR
A simple UPI QR works for small payments. Many banks and payment providers also offer merchant QR codes and soundbox devices with extra features such as settlement reports and payment alerts. If you receive many payments each day, ask your bank about a merchant account.
Safety
- Never scan a QR code to receive money. Scanning is only for paying.
- Check the payee name every time before you pay.
- Do not leave a QR sticker where someone could paste another one over it.
Need a QR that you can change later?
A static QR cannot be edited after printing. If you want to change the destination or track scans, read static vs dynamic QR codes.
