12 Smart Ways to Use QR Codes in Your Business

QR codes are free, work on every smartphone camera and connect printed material to the digital world. Here are twelve ways small businesses can use them. Make any of them with our free QR code generator.

  1. UPI payment QR. On counters, invoices and delivery slips. See how to create a UPI QR.
  2. Google review link. Ask happy customers to scan and leave a review. Place it on bills and tables.
  3. WhatsApp chat. One scan opens a chat with your business, with a pre-filled message such as "Hi, I need a quotation".
  4. Digital menu. Restaurants and cafes can link to a menu page that is easy to update.
  5. Wi-Fi sharing. Let guests join without typing the password.
  6. Contact card (vCard). Print it on a visiting card so people can save your details instantly.
  7. Product pages or catalogue. Put a QR on packaging, brochures or shelf labels to link to details, videos or manuals.
  8. Warranty and service registration. A code on the product that opens a form.
  9. Social media follow. Link to your Instagram or YouTube.
  10. Event check-in and tickets. A scan confirms entry.
  11. Location. A link to your shop on the map for walk-ins.
  12. Quotation or catalogue download. Print on your visiting card or leaflets.

Best practices

  • Tell people what the code does ("Scan to pay", "Scan to chat").
  • Use high contrast and enough size. Test on both Android and iPhone.
  • Do not put QR codes where people cannot scan, such as moving vehicles or tiny print.
  • Use dynamic QR for printed material that may change. See static vs dynamic QR codes.
