How to Quote a Website Design or Software Project
Website and software projects often fail because of unclear scope, not poor code. A good quotation defines what you will deliver, what is extra and when payments are due.
Define the scope
- Number and type of pages, and any special features (booking, payment, login, admin panel).
- Design: custom or template-based, number of design revisions included.
- Content: who writes it and who supplies images.
- Integrations: payment gateway, WhatsApp, CRM, analytics.
- Hosting, domain and email: included or paid by the client.
- Training and handover.
Price per milestone
| Milestone | Share |
|---|---|
| On order confirmation | 40% |
| On design approval | 30% |
| On going live | 30% |
Never start without an advance. See payment terms.
Sample lines
| Item | SAC | Qty | Rate | GST |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Website design and development (up to 8 pages) | 998314 | 1 | โน35,000 | 18% |
| Annual maintenance and support | 998313 | 1 | โน12,000 | 18% |

Protect yourself
- Limit revision rounds, and charge for extra rounds.
- State that delays in content or feedback move the deadline.
- Clarify who owns the code and design after full payment.
- Offer maintenance as a separate recurring line.
How to price
Estimate hours, multiply by your hourly rate, add a buffer of 15 to 25% for changes and add your costs. Or price on value. See how to price your services.
Use our IT services quotation format and the quotation generator. When the work starts, send an invoice for each milestone.
